Please note that this is not a potluck as usual, so all you have to do is let us know you are coming . Please email Shawn Springer by Wed. May 26 and let him know how many are coming so we can purchase the right amount of food. BYOB and plan to play volleyball, horseshoes, corn hole, and of course water ski or wakeboard. Island Facilities and Equipment
Thank you to the some 25 members who came out last month and helped with island clean-up. Due to poor weather we had to cancel the second weekend so there are still repairs that are needed. We will post a list of “Things to do” on the back clubhouse door. Please note that the use of the mowers and tractors is reserved for the Island Maintenance crew. We are asking all members to check with a Board Member if you are in need of one of these. We have also found the club house left in quite a mess a couple of times recently so be sure kids and adults leave it better than you found it.
Guests
We love having members bring out guests to our island. We are asking that on busy weekends and events that guests are side tied to the member boat so that our members have space to dock. Your cooperation will be appreciated by all members.
As you know, COVID has played havoc with our club’s ability to hold events at the island as well as put on our major fundraiser, the Crab Feed. We normally raise over $10,000 annually and use the funds to hold club-sponsored events as well as maintain and improve our island facilities. We are hopeful that we will be able to carry out the social calendar as planned, at least starting in May. In addition, your Board of Directors is pushing to complete the inside work at the clubhouse before the season opens!
With that in mind, we are asking each member (family) to consider making a donation to the club in lieu of the money you might have spent at events since last spring. For each donation, a special “Star Member” sticker will be awarded which can be proudly displayed on your boat!
Yes, I would like to make a tax deductible donation today and become a “Star Member”!
Click the donate button below and contribute the following amount for the following status:
Star Member = $50.00-$100.00 Silver Star Member = $150.00-$200.00 Gold Star Member = Over $200.00

New Member Rules & Regs
The Rules and Regs were recently modified (10/15) to read the following: “A new member will be probationary for 12 months after date of joining and will not be eligible to sponsor a new member during this time.”
Sponsoring New Members
It is important for sponsors to help their new members by introducing them to other members, learning the Rules and Regs, as well as to being a model for and encouraging participation in club events as well as volunteering to help.
GUESTS
SWSC continues to welcome club members to bring guests to the island. Please be responsible for making sure that the Rules and Regs are followed. Guest may not use the island without the inviting member being present. Guest tents must be removed after each visit to leave room for paying members.
RING Found
Someone dropped a women’s ring under the shade trees near the beach on Labor Day weekend. If you are that person, please contact Linda at lkfish47@gmail.com with your name and description of the ring.
The island is available for recreational purposes this weekend, but due to County Health regulations, we will not be holding our annual Potluck Dinner. The club will provide charcoal for the grilling area for our members use. It is important to note that social distancing should be observed outside of family groups on the docks, beaches, campsites and firepits.
Restrooms
The restrooms were sanitized and we ask members to sanitize areas you have used with the sanitizer provided. Hand washing should be done with only the soap provided in the dispensers. We are on a septic system that can only handle the provided soap.
Life Jackets
Don’t forget we are collecting life jackets (Coast Guard approved) to donate to the Fire Department who loans them to people in need. You can contact any board member if you have any to donate.
June and July Events
Your Board of Directors and Board of Trustees are monitoring the San Joaquin County Health Dept directives regarding Covid-19. It is important for all of us to comply with their directives so that our island is not closed to us during this pandemic period. Please stay tuned regarding events on our calendars as we will send updates as the restrictions are lifted. We are so lucky to have this wonderful retreat!
Pacific Avenue Bowl is hosting our second Family Bowling Fundraiser. Tickets must be purchased in advance from one of the Board of Directors. Price includes shoes two games and some pizza. There will be a 50/50 raffle, door prize, and a raffle.
Youth: $10 (Under 16) Adults: $20
Event Chairs: Vic and Laura Wagner & Brad Hellwig
Do you have Life Jackets no one uses any longer?
The Fire Department loans out life jackets to people in need. Your Board of Directors would like to collect life jackets that the kids have out grown or are just no longer needed. They need to be Coast Guard approved and in good condition. If you have one or more, contact a Board member to arrange a drop-off.
Spring Clean-up is coming
Our spring clean-up weekend was moved from April 11th & 12th to April 18th & 19th. If we can really get a good work crew that first weekend, we believe we will not need the second weekend. If you are planning to come, please email Shawn Springer (shawnspringer3@gmail.com) and let him know. Lunch will be provided so a headcount is needed.
New Members: This is a great chance to get to know your fellow club members and have fun too!
